David Cook Named Classified Staff Member of the Year

David Cook of the Academic Support Center has been named Classified Staff Member of the Year. Cook is an instructional assistant in the Skills Center, and was presented with the award during the Classified Staff Appreciation Luncheon on June 7.

Cook was made eligible for the award after several nominations poured in from students and staff during the fall 2016 semester recognizing Cook as “an individual with a positive attitude” and “an employee always willing to help students, staff and faculty.”

Cook’s nominations also included statements about his ability to lead others with the use of technology and his commitment to helping students succeed. One nominator said, “David is humble and kind, and committed to the mission of the ASC and the college.”

Cook has worked as an instructional assistant in the ASC since 2005, and was a student at Fullerton College prior to that. He received his education at FC and transferred to Cal Poly Pomona where he earned his bachelor’s degree before returning to FC in his current position.

Upon receiving his award, Cook said, “Thank you. I really love my job.”

Each semester, Fullerton College Classified Senate solicits nominations for employee recognitions. One classified staff member is recognized during each semester thereby making them eligible to receive the Classified Staff Member of the Year Award.
