Holiday Gift-Giving Program Supports Student-Parents

Christmas will come early for more than 100 children of Fullerton College students at the annual Adopt An Angel Holiday Party on Dec. 11.

The event, which is completely sponsored by contributions from faculty and staff, is an annual tradition that helps student-parents participating in EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, and FYSI when the programs provide a positive holiday experience for their children.

“Adopt an Angel is a wonderful way to show support for our students during what may be a financially difficult time for many low-income families,” said Director of EOPS Jennifer LaBounty. “The goal of the event is to help brighten a child’s Christmas with a few gifts and help ease the financial burden for our students managing school, work and family.”

The gift-giving program began with an announcement to faculty and staff in early November and has since collected more than 200 wrapped gifts and monetary contributions from faculty and staff members.

“The support we get from faculty and staff for this event is wonderful,” LaBounty said. “It’s a perfect way for us to show our students how much we care about them.”

The Adopt An Angel holiday party will be held on Friday, Dec. 11 and is by-invitation-only. Students participating in EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, and FYSI were invited to attend with their children.  To learn more about these programs visit http://eops.fullcoll.edu/.
