Hornet students named finalists in LA Press Club Awards

Fullerton College journalism students were named finalists in three categories in the Los Angeles Press Club’s 60th SoCal Journalism Awards Contest.

The finalists in categories from professional to collegiate journalism categories were announced Friday. It is the first time Fullerton College journalism students entered the competition hosted by the long-standing professional association.

“I’m very proud of them,” said Jay Seidel, Hornet adviser. “To have so many finalists named in our first year of submission is awesome.”

Fullerton College joins LA City College as the only community colleges to have finalists named. Other schools include Cal States Fullerton, Long Beach and Northridge, Claremont College and University of Southern California.

Hornet students were named finalists in three of the five categories they entered.
