Fullerton College celebrated its 100th Commencement with much fanfare on Friday, May 22, 2015. An estimated 560 students attended, along with friends and family who filled the Fullerton Union High School Stadium on the unusually cool evening.
With President Rajen Vurdien presiding, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez gave the keynote address, and former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel received the 2015 Commencement Award. Michelle Rios, president of Inter-Club Council and a Woman of Distinction, presented her student commencement speech explaining how Fullerton College offered her and her peers the support they needed to reach the next step of their academic goals. Additional speakers included North Orange Community College District Board President M. Tony Ontiveros, Faculty Senate President Sam Foster and Fullerton College Foundation President Mary Dalessi.
Highlights of the evening also included the Fullerton College symphonic winds and the Concert Choir who performed a variety of musical pieces including the college’s Alma Mater and National Anthem.
After the conferment of degrees and presentation of diplomas, faculty, students and their families were invited to a reception in the College Center courtyard.
