FC Study Abroad Raises $7,500 for Scholarships

Last December, the NOCCCD Study Abroad Program held a fundraiser wine pairing to raise funds for study abroad scholarships. The fundraiser dinner featured a five-course meal courtesy of award-winning chef and owner of Guac N Roll Tacos, Alfredo Bautista. Fullerton College faculty, staff, administrators, and community members were invited to attend.

There was an outpouring of community support from the following wineries: Opolo Vineyards, Austin Hope, Daou Vineyards, Niner Vineyards, Alta Colina Vineyards, and Hunt Cellars. Dr. Brian Thompson and M. Leonor Cadena, from the Fullerton College anthropology department, hosted the event and was instrumental in garnering support from the community. Thanks to the generosity of donors, FC Study Abroad raised $7,500 for study abroad scholarships, including donations from FC administrators Dani Wilson, Carlos Ayon, Jorge Gamboa, Nick Arman, Bridget Salzameda, Albert Abutin, and Mark Greenhalgh, amongst other donors, including faculty members. FC Study Abroad hopes to make this an annual event to raise awareness and support for study abroad.

The NOCCCD Study Abroad Program currently offers five 2023 study abroad programs– Seville, London, Dublin, Kyoto, and Rome. Students are encouraged to sign up for an information session to learn more about the available programs. To learn more about FC Study Abroad, visit their webpage.
