Fullerton College Celebrates Earth Day
The internationally celebrated day of environmental activism known as Earth Day will take place at Fullerton College with the annual Earth Day Symposium on April 20. This year’s theme focuses attention on fossil fuel divestment for climate action and will feature a keynote session with Energy Analyst and Investigative Journalist Antonia Juhasz, and Director for the Institute for Energy Economics Tom Sanzillo, as well as a panel session with professors and sustainability managers from across California community colleges.
Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the case for divestment and decarbonization from scientific, political, moral, and economic expert perspectives as well as pragmatic ways college communities can support divestment and decarbonization.
Fullerton College’s Sustainability Committee is already advocating for divestment of fossil fuels at the state level. As the committee moves forward with climate action, members continue to find alliances in the CCC system to make strides on divestment.
