PTK Students Earn Top State Awards
Two Phi Theta Kappa students have earned top awards in California. Joanna Ugalde and Hamza Sobho have made the 2022-2023 PTK All-California Community College Academic Team with Ugalde earning a first-team ranking and Sobho earning a second-team ranking. The All-State Academic Team members receive special recognition locally and will receive a certificate and medallion that can be worn at commencement.
Joanna Ugalde has also been selected as a 2023 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Selection as a Coca-Cola Gold Scholar was based on scores Ugalde earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition of which more than 2,400 applications were received this year. The program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
