October Activities Celebrate LGBTQIA2S+ History Month

October is LGBTQIA2S+ History Month! Fullerton College and the LGBTQIA2S+ Resource Program invites the campus community to help kick off the celebration this month with a Resource Fair on the Quad on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Additionally, the LGBTQIA2S+ Resource Program will be hosting several events throughout the month including presentations, process groups, a Butterflies and Brushes Paint event in collaboration with the Grads to Be Program, and a Queer Social: Ace & Aro Mixer later in the month.

The events planned are:

LGBTQIA2S+ History 101 Presentation

Monday, October 2 at 1 – 2 p.m. on Zoom. ID: 876 854 23636

Join LGBTQIA2S+ Projects Lead Ariel Gentalen (they/them) for a 60-minute presentation covering 101 level information on LGBTQIA2S+ History Month.

Learn more about LGBTQIA2S+ support that is available on- and off- campus. You’ll find clubs, health resources, activities, and more. The event will also have giveaways, treats, music, and most importantly, queer community.

Loud and Proud Process Groups

This group is a LGBTQIA2S+ brave space for processing everyday challenges and mental health concerns of the community. These process groups are intended for our student community, and will change thematically throughout the semester.

Brushes & Butterflies

Wednesday, October 18 at 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Historic Library Courtyard (by Starbucks)

This event is co-hosted by the Grads to Be and the LGBTQIA2S+Resource Programs and will be facilitated by Seranie, owner of Paint2Gather. Brushes & Butterflies is a space to support personal and emotional well-being through art. Join for a painting activity in honor of UndocuQueer intersections, creating belonging through making, to help express and resolve emotions. All supplies will be provided.

Queer Social: Ace & Aro Mixer

Wednesday, October 25 at 1:30 – 3 p.m. | Building 2400, Room 118

Join the LGBTQIA2S+ Resource Program Team for an afternoon exploring identity, honoring representation, and dialoguing as a group to create ongoing community bonds. Snacks and drinks provided along with a craft activity unique to each mixer. Join us to explore the LGBTQIA2S+ spectrum in this student focused brave social space.
