Fullerton College and President Olivo Host Vision 2030: A Dual Enrollment Conference

Fullerton College and President Dr. Cynthia Olivo are set to host “Vision 2030: Success with Equity, a Dual Enrollment Convening” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024. The event, co-hosted with Fullerton Union High School and in collaboration with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, will take place across both neighboring campuses.

The convening aims to support the Vision 2030 framework and the Governor’s Equitable Roadmap for California Community Colleges, focusing on three core goals: equity in access, equity in support and equity in success. A key component of the discussions will include the 9th Grade to Baccalaureate Strategy, which seeks to increase the percentage of students graduating high school with at least 12 college units.

The day includes a welcome address by Dr. Cynthia Olivo, an educational leadership panel and remarks from several dignitaries. The event also features a faculty panel and a dual enrollment implementation workshop, as well as a presentation and tour of Fullerton College’s dual enrollment program.

The event underscores Fullerton College’s commitment to equitable education and its role in serving our communities through its dual enrollment programs.

Fullerton College: Commitment to Dual Enrollment

Fullerton College partners with several local school districts to provide eligible 9–12 grade students the opportunity to take free college classes while still enrolled in high school. Dual enrollment classes are college-level classes—held at Fullerton College or at a local high school—that are guaranteed to give the student general education college credits.

Strengthening a Partnership

Fullerton College, in collaboration with the Fullerton Joint Union High School District (FJUHSD), secured a $468,920 College and Career Access Pathways Grant from the California Department of Education. This funding will enhance the dual enrollment partnership between Fullerton College and FJUHSD over the next four years. The new funds will help students be successful and turn college certificates and degrees into careers.
