Environmental Justice Career Fellowship Applications Now Open

The Environmental Justice Career Fellowship program at Fullerton College is now taking applications for the fall 2025 to spring 2026. This program is designed to support students pursuing careers in environmental justice, sustainability, policy, advocacy and more.

“I have gained valuable experience in advocating for climate solutions, reducing air pollution and engaging with public opinions. This program has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to learn and grow in ways I never expected,” said student Obed Najarro Leon. “Additionally, it provides a great platform for networking and forming meaningful connections that can benefit my future.”

The fellowship provides hands-on experience, mentorship and financial support to help students develop into leaders in the pursuit of environmental awareness. Those who join gain valuable skills, network with professionals in the field and contribute to meaningful change.

“When applying for this program, I would never have guessed where it would lead me to, but now, I have met new people and made connections. The organization that I was paired with helps spread immigration awareness and teaches the youth about deep canvassing and making connections with the people living in a community,” said student Eduardo Torres Juarez.

A nine-month fellowship, students can gain up to $10,000 in stipends and $5,000 in scholarships. They are also placed in a community with faculty support, academic counseling and exclusive enrichment activities.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be enrolled at Fullerton College for the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters
  • Commit to 10 hours a week of work-based learning at a designated site
  • Complete climate action and environmental justice training during their experience

Students who are interested in applying can also attend virtual information sessions to explore the program’s unique offerings.
