Celebrating Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week at Fullerton College

Fullerton College is excited to celebrate National Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Week from Sept. 8-14. A week-long celebration, this occasion recognizes more than 500 HSIs throughout the nation for their work and critical role in educating and empowering Hispanic students.

An HSI since the mid-90s, Fullerton College was recognized for its percentage of students who identify as Hispanic/Latinx. Today, the college continues to enroll a majority of Hispanic/Latinx students, making up nearly 60 percent of its general population.

Fullerton College’s HSI Transformation Team has been hard at work building five key pillars to further define and embrace Fullerton College’s identity as an HSI:

  • Hiring and diversifying faculty
  • Marketing and branding our HSI identity
  • Culturally relevant practices
  • Create a collegewide infrastructure
  • Cultivate solidarity

4th Annual HSI Celebration

To honor HSI Week on campus, Fullerton College will host its 4th annual HSI Celebration from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the Cruz Reynoso Courtyard. The celebration will include Baile Folklorico, conchas with counselors and paletas with President Olivo. The event will also allow students the opportunity to apply for graduation, connect with campus resources and more.
