Valerie Salazar Named Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs and Promise

Fullerton College is excited to welcome its permanent Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs and Promise, Valerie Salazar.

With over ten years of experience in higher education through her work at Fullerton College and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), Salazar is deeply committed to advancing equity and access. She is passionate about breaking barriers and creating transformative opportunities for all students.

At Fullerton College, Salazar has helped cultivate strong partnerships with high school districts, higher education staff and other local partners. Prior to this role, she has served as the Interim Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs and Promise and in multiple classified positions.

Under her leadership, Salazar has also broadened the reach of student engagement by expanding partnerships, continuing to diversify the student populations our college serves and increasing awareness of college opportunities. Beyond her work with Promise, co-leading the Hispanic Serving-Institution (HSI) Transformation Team has been a highlight of her career so far. This group is focused on identifying and addressing gaps in access, support and opportunities for our Latinx students, staff and faculty. As a first-generation Latina college graduate, she strives to ensure that the support structures we create are inclusive and provide real opportunities for academic and professional success.

Salazar holds a Master of Science degree in college counseling and student development from Azusa Pacific University and is a proud alumna of CSUF, where she received her bachelor’s degree in human services with a minor in child and adolescent development.

Fullerton College is very excited to continue working with Valerie Salazar and witnessing her incredible leadership, advocacy and spirit.
