Revisiting Our Backyard Geology in Orange County
The Natural Sciences Division and Engage in STEM program is hosting Professor of Earth Sciences Dr. Richard Lozinsky for this month’s Natural Sciences Seminar on Tuesday, April 12 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Building 400, Room 410.
For over 25 years, Dr. Lozinsky has taught a variety of courses in geology and oceanography specializing in natural disasters and field studies. He has written several natural history field guides on portions of New Mexico and Southern California. His most recent publication, Our Backyard Geology in the Orange County, California, Area is a geological guide to the local environment in Orange County. During the seminar, Dr. Lozinsky will present new and exciting findings from his sabbatical to explore deeper into the mysteries of local geology.
Dr. Lozinsky enjoys working closely with individuals to help geology come alive for students by following the theme of “geology goes where you go.” He received a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Humboldt State University, a Master of Science in Geology from the University of New Mexico, and a Ph.D. in Geology from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
Students who attend may also attend the Meet-the-Speaker Pizza Mixer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Rooms 224/226, sponsored by the Engage in STEM program. For more information about this event, contact Sean Chamberlin at schamberlin@fullcoll.edu or call 714-992-7043.
