Annual Banned Books Essay Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations are in order for the winners of the Banned Books Essay Contest hosted by the Fullerton College Library in October. First place with a $200 prize went to Cadence Lusinsky for her essay on “The Power of Women and the Power of Banned Books” which explored the topic of gender inequality through Aristophanes’ ancient Greek comedy Lysistatra.

Second place was awarded to Eduardo Munoz who wrote on controversial lessons that can be learned from reading Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and lastly, Paulo Flores-Arvizu took home third place for his essay titled “Mightier than the Pen” who also wrote about intellectual consequences of banning books using Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
