Abesamis Shares Dissertation Research Findings at APAHE National Conference
Student Life and Leadership Director Dr. Naomi Abesamis was among co-moderators at the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) National Conference, held April 8 in Long Beach, CA.
Abesamis co-moderated a workshop panel with Dr. Lily Ann Villaraza, faculty and Chair of Philippines Studies at City College of San Francisco. Their workshop panel, titled Planting “Legaseeds:” Filipino Learning Communities and Student Success Programs at California Community Colleges, shared Abesamis’ dissertation research findings on three of the Filipino learning communities and student success programs, including two new programs that were just implemented at College of San Mateo and Napa Valley College.
The workshop was geared toward senior-level administrators to begin the groundwork of institutionalizing these programs statewide, supported by the Filipinx Community College Collaborative. Abesamis is a founding member of Filipinx Community College Collaborative.
