Active Shooter Emergency Drill set for March 13
The drill will be initiated and ended through live announcements delivered through the Cisco phones located throughout campus. At 10:15 a.m., people on campus will be directed to shelter-in-place/lockdown, view an educational video on active-shooter situations, and then discuss preparation methods in their classrooms and offices.
During the drill, all students and staff on campus will be asked to view a video on active-shooter situations titled “Shots Fired on Campus.” The video can be found at http://campussafety.fullcoll.edu. The video requires FC credentials and can only be viewed from a Fullerton College computer.
The Office of Campus Safety has designed an Active Shooter Emergency Plan which can be viewed at http://campussafety.fullcoll.edu under the “Emergency Preparedness” link.
“Our campus community is encouraged to prepare for this type of incident,” said Director of Campus Safety Steve Selby. “It is only through preparation, planning and drills that we can make ourselves and our campus safer.”
Prior to the drill on March 13 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Office of Campus Communications will test the emergency communications system. Faculty, staff and students will receive a text message, voice message and email. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to update their contact information in MyGateway to assure delivery.
Any questions regarding the drill can be directed to the office of Campus Safety at (714) 992-7081.
