Celebrating Filipino American History Month
October is Filipino American History Month, marking the first recorded Filipino arrival in the United States in 1587. This month encourages reflection on Filipino American history and influence, empowering them to share their stories while inspiring future generations to embrace their cultural identity.
The Fullerton College Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Amplified team is excited to announce a series of events this October to celebrate our first Filipino American History Month celebration at Fullerton College.
These celebrations recognize the contributions and experiences of Filipino Americans who have often been underrepresented in United States historical narratives. These events aim to educate the campus and community about Filipino American history, culture and achievements, while fostering belonging among Filipino American students and allies.
