Chris Sickels Selected as 2022 FC Artist in Residence

His stop-motion animated films have been screened at various festivals, including Los Angeles International Short Film Festival and Montreal Stop-Motion Film Festival.

The FC Artist in Residence is chosen each year by the full-time faculty members of the Art Department.

“Chris is a unique talent (and his work is widely known), he combines sculpture, photography, stop-motion animation and drawing and set building in his work,” said Professor Michael Sheehan. “He has created a unique voice in illustration and animation. He’s exactly what I like to tell my students about not creating barriers in your work.”

Sickels’ solo exhibition, which runs through March 28 at the FC Art Gallery, will take visitors on a whimsical art journey that includes fantastic puppets in unique environments. The exhibition will be accompanied by programming for the Artist in Residence Week and Artist Demos, which will run from March 7-10.
