Common Course Numbering Starting Fall 2025 Semester

The Common Course Numbering (CCN) system is making its way to Fullerton College starting the fall 2025 semester. A system designed to streamline courses and titles across California Community Colleges, CCN aims to reduce confusion, support academic planning and enable smooth transitions between colleges and universities.

CCN’s primary purpose is to create a student-friendly system for course registration and credit transfers. It will also benefit students by simplifying the process of earning credits for seamless transfer from the California Community Colleges to University of California and California State University campuses.

The North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) is currently in its first phase of implementation, expecting to add more courses in the future in efforts to expand the program.

A visual explanation of how classes will be displayed under Common Course Numbering, comprised of subject, number and identifiers.

Students, faculty and staff can expect Common Course Numbering to appear on some classes in the fall schedule, which is available now.
