Double Your Support of FC Students on Giving Tuesday
On November 29, the Fullerton College Foundation is rallying efforts to raise money for student scholarships by creating ways people may double their donations on Giving Tuesday. Since its founding in 2012, Giving Tuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours and activities that bring about real change in communities.
This year the Fullerton College Foundation developed a unique donation program that combines its PinRaise smart-phone app partner along with a gift-matching program.
PinRaise is a mobile app that works with more than 400 local businesses to contribute donations on a variety of purchases. For example, after dining at a participating restaurant, patrons can enter a code they receive on their receipt through the app and the restaurant will make a donation to the foundation.
“For each dollar raised through PinRaise business donations on November 29, our gift-match donors will contribute an equal amount. If we can line up 50 gift-match donors, then every dollar raised through PinRaise donations will grow fifty-fold,” said Chuck Allen, executive director of the foundation. The Fullerton College Foundation works to enhance the lives of students by raising resources for scholarships. During the 2015-2016 year, the foundation awarded $242,570 in scholarships to eligible students made possible through generous donations.
“The Fullerton College Foundation is joining the Giving Tuesday movement and is asking for your support to make a contribution so that we can continue our mission to help give the gift of education to the students at Fullerton College,” said FC alumna and foundation board President Nicole Bernard.
The foundation offers a number of ways to give in addition to PinRaise. Online donations to support scholarships, the President’s Circle, and the Foundation Membership program can be made by using PayPal or a debit/credit card. Visit http://fullcollfoundation.org and click on ‘Donate’ for more information. Or send a check or money order to the Foundation Office at P.O. Box 431, Fullerton CA, 92836 to make a direct monetary donation.
AmazonSmile allows customers to shop online through Amazon and donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to the Foundation. To make purchases through the AmazonSmile program, visit http://smile.amazon.com/ and select Fullerton College Foundation, Inc.
Through the Ralphs Community Contribution Program, 1 percent of purchases are donated. Participants must register by logging on to http://ralphs.com, click on ‘Community’ and then ‘Community Contributions’ to enroll online, or call 800-443-4438 to enroll by phone.
Fullerton College employees can donate directly with payroll deductions, to set up a payroll deduction, contact the foundation office directly.
Finally, a bequest is one of the easiest gifts to significantly to contribute to the foundation. Bequests can include specific assets, a dollar amount or an estate percentage.
