Dr. Sam Foster Selected as Fullerton College Dean of Math and Computer Science

Fullerton College welcomes Dr. Sam Foster as its new dean of the Math and Computer Science Division. He will replace Mark Greenhalgh, who retired in June 2022, and Carlos Ayon, who acted as interim dean.

Dr. Foster is a leader at Fullerton College who has served for 30 years as a faculty member in the Chemistry Department. During this time, Sam, as he is known by many, was the Chemistry Department coordinator, and Faculty Senate president, before he went on to serve at the state level on the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC), where he led committees such as Accreditation and Professional Development for the entire system. Prior to Fullerton College, Sam taught for one year at Glendale College.

Dr. Foster is a STEM expert who earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Andrews University in Michigan and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. In his downtime, Dr. Foster is an avid traveler and has been to nearly 50 countries on six continents.

Fullerton College is excited to have Dr. Foster join the dean leadership team. Pending board approval, he will begin July 1, 2023.
