Emerging Technology Laboratory Workshop Prepares Tomorrow’s Information Technology Leaders

The Emerging Technology Laboratory at Fullerton College recently hosted its highly anticipated Network Ethernet Cable Making Workshop. A hands-on learning experience, the workshop gave 75 computer information systems and cybersecurity students a glimpse into the world of network infrastructure.

Students gathered at cable making stations to absorb fruitful techniques and then give them a try.

This immersive, practical experience taught students how to create and test ethernet cables, a critical component of the information technology (IT) profession in today’s tech-driven world. Under the guidance of Cybersecurity and Computer Information Systems Professor, Brian Roach, students gained essential technical knowledge, which included understanding wiring standards and using specialized tools to assemble cables.

Students were empowered as they learned the inner workings of the technology that powers modern communication systems. With networking becoming an increasingly vital field, this lab helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, making a valuable addition to the academic journeys of those who attended.

A cable making tutorial that students followed. The Business and Computer Information Systems Division has done a great job at tailoring instruction to our students.

This lab is one of Fullerton College’s many efforts to enrich our students’ educational experience and prepare them for success in the ever-evolving tech landscape. The Division of Business and Computer Information Systems is hard at work ensuring students are career-ready by graduation.

The Emerging Technology Laboratory is located in Building 500, Room 523. Learn more about the lab, as well as what the computer information systems and cybersecurity programs have to offer on the division’s website.
