Explore Programs, Pathways, and Declare a Major on March 28
This story has been updated. Due to inclement weather, the Quad activities of this event will take place on Tuesday, March 28 at 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Students are invited to explore academic majors and learn about career options during Major Declaration Day on March 14. The event will take place on the quad from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and brings together Fullerton College academic programs and career pathways.
“The event is designed to collectively promote student engagement, provide interactive career exploration and counseling experiences, and explore academic pathways to help affirm and confirm majors,” said Dr. Flor Aguilera Huerta, counselor and chair of the Pathways to Success Committee.
Counselors will also be available at the event to provide students with information about academic options and degrees and certificates offered at Fullerton College, Aguilera Huerta said.
Students can win prizes for participation in two or more activities on quad. The quad will be transformed into sections to help connect students directly with counselors, explore a variety of majors, and connect students to resources that support the entire student journey.
Some additional highlights of the event also include information sessions and interactive workshops taking place in Building 200 throughout the event. Those sessions include:
Your Major & Transfer: Psychology, 10 – 10:45 a.m. at the Transfer Center in Room 212
An interactive session led by a Fullerton College counselor and psychology professor. Students can learn about psychology as a major and connecting a Fullerton College degree to transfer. Faculty will review tools like Program Mapper and tips to best guide academic success.
Cutting Edge Careers: Student & Faculty Panel, 10 – 11 a.m. in Room 224
In this session, students can learn about in-demand careers that utilize the latest technology. A panel consisting of students and faculty will share experiences of three Fullerton College Career Education Programs: Drone Apprenticeship, Cyber Security, and Digital Arts programs.
Hornet Heroes, 12:30 – 2 p.m. in Room 224
Join the Puente Program for an interactive workshop that gives students the opportunity to interact with Hornet Heroes from their community. These Heroes are distinguished, successful, established professionals.
The Counseling Division and Pathways to Success are hosting the event. Complimentary snacks and food will be available at some of the sessions and on the quad, and students must register in advance using the Major Declaration Day Registration Form.
