Fall Community Resource Fair Aug. 30 and Aug. 31
Dozens of local non-profit organizations and community resources will be visiting Fullerton College for the Fall Community Resource Fair on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the Quad. The two-day event, which is hosted by the Sustainability Office, is designed to connect students with a variety of community resources, volunteer and internship opportunities, and public service entities, such as the CalFresh Program which provides federal monthly benefits to buy food and groceries.
“Seeing the success of the Earth Week fair in April, we wanted to once again help connect students with resources and organizations available, here in Orange County. This resource fair is the fall semester equivalent to the Earth Week fair. While less focused on environmentalism, this fair seeks to help students become more sustainable in helping to be more locally-oriented. We hope students are able to find volunteer opportunities, connect with partners, and establish new longstanding relationships with the community,” said Director of Sustainability Tyler Deacy.
The fair will feature a variety of community partner booths, including but not limited to OCTA, OC Parks, OC Registrar of Voters, Friends of Coyote Hills, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Fullerton College resources such as the FC Horticulture Club, FC Food Bank and Career Closet (The Hanger).
Deacy said the CalFresh Program will also have a mobile service vehicle onsite on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to help process new applications immediately. “Students will be able to go from the initial application to walking away with a grocery card while still at the fair!”
