FC Celebrates 100th Commencement
Fullerton College will celebrate the graduating class of 2015 with a record 11.2 percent increase in degrees awarded as compared to last year. The 100th Commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Fullerton Union High School Stadium.
With a growing number of students returning to community colleges each year to complete degree programs, Fullerton College has seen a consistent increase in the number of degrees awarded in the last six years. This year marks the highest increase with approximately 2,438 associate degrees awarded for the 2014-2015 academic year. Of those degrees, approximately 765 are transfer degrees, which guarantee students admittance to a California State University campus.
Nearly 600 students are expected to participate in this year’s Commencement ceremony which will feature a keynote address by Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and will honor former New York Giants head coach and alumnus Jim Fassel with the 2015 Commencement Award. The ceremony will also honor faculty and administrator retirees, the 2015 Teacher of Year, and recognize outstanding student achievements.
The ceremony will trigger a partial closure of Lemon Street between Chapman Avenue and Berkeley Avenue between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Fullerton Police Department and campus safety officers will be on hand to divert traffic and ensure the safety of guests attending the ceremony and surrounding neighborhood.
