FC Debaters Capture Multiple Awards at Early Bird Tournament
Fullerton College debaters captured multiple awards at the 7th Annual Early Bird Debate Tournament on Friday, Sept. 16 hosted by Fullerton College. Fullerton’s Stephanie Swendener and Niko Fasciano finished with a perfect 3-0 record in the novice division, narrowly losing to first place CSUF. Meanwhile in the open division, the team of Ryan Martinez and Sean Sullivan finished second place, while their teammates Anushri Parikh and Rohan Shah finished third. It was a first-ever debate competition for Swendener, Fasciano, Sullivan, and Parikh.
Fullerton’s college Jonathan Soto took second place top speaker while teammates Jonah Stoffers and Brian Gatpandan earned fourth place speaker awards in the novice and open division respectfully. 21 teams from Rio Hondo, CSU Fullerton, and Fullerton College competed, debating the topic of providing humanitarian aid to refugees.
Next week, Fullerton travels to El Camino College for the PSCFA Warm-Up Tournament.
