FC Sweeps Early Bird Debate Tournament

Fullerton College’s Kitiny Phumchun and Iris Chu led a 1-2-3 sweep at the 6th Annual Early Bird Debate Tournament hosted at Fullerton College on Friday, Sept. 18. Fullerton’s top three teams all finished with 3-0 records; finishing second on speaker points were Matt Adams and Daniel Boughter, and in third were James Huber and Michael Wu. It was a first-ever debate competition for Huber, Chu, and Adams.
Fullerton’s Joe Phillips took top speaker, edging out teammates Boughter and Zach Turner. Fourteen teams from Irvine Valley, CSUF and Fullerton competed, debating the topic of improving college affordability.
Next week, Fullerton travels to El Camino College for the PSCFA Warm-Up Tournament.
