Oil Portraiture Class Visiting Assisted Living Facility in 2005

Students visited an assisted living facility in Fullerton during their Oil Portraiture Class as part of this project. Before working on their portraits, students interviewed and connected with residents of the home. By discovering their interests, history and more, they painted, sketched and photographed personal artwork reflecting the lives of the senior residents. Finished copies of the portraits were printed, presented and displayed at the facility. “Our success depends on the community members who have so generously allowed us to be with them,” Schrieber-Smith said.

Schrieber-Smith is also exhibiting her solo art show, “Try Everything” in the Mabee Gallery at Culver-Stockton College. The reception was on Oct. 8 and Schreiber-Smith attended and discussed her process and work. The exhibit runs through Oct. 28.
