Fullerton College Celebrates Earth Week with Special Guest Visit
Earth Week (April 21-25) at Fullerton College is all about providing exciting opportunities for our students to get involved with their community and make a difference.
This year, Earth Week invites you to a special Earth Day Symposium from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 in Building 2400, Room 107 featuring Director of Climate Policy at the Roosevelt Institute and one of the minds behind the Green New Deal, Rhiana Gunn-Wright. Hosted by President Olivo, the event will include a question-and-answer conversation with Gunn-Wright exploring climate justice, the environment and how we can all play a role in building a better world together. If you are interested in attending, RSVP today on the event registration form.
Earth Week is also a great way for Fullerton College to celebrate milestones from year-round projects, engage in environmental consciousness and more. Students, faculty and staff are invited to check out other events happening throughout this week of celebration:

Fullerton Channel Cleanup
9 a.m.-noon | April 24
Fullerton College joined the Adopt-a-Channel program in Spring 2024, where an organization may partner with the Orange County Watersheds program to help clean trash and graffiti out of our local outlet streams. Fullerton Creek, located east down Chapman, runs out to Seal Beach. Each year, our campus provides two cleanup events for the county to help keep waste out of the creek and off our beaches. Volunteers will meet on campus to be shuttled to the site. Sign up to volunteer today on the volunteer sign-up form.
Solar Panel Project Ribbon Cutting
2:30 p.m. | April 25
Fullerton College is hosting a ribbon cutting for the completion of its solar panel installation. The first of its kind in all of the North Orange County Community College District, the solar panels will provide the campus with between 15-20% of its energy needs annually. Our panels are located in Lot 5, north of the 1700 Building and feature upgraded lighting for the parking lot with an LED system on the underside of the panels. The panels are expected to be electrified by the end of the spring 2025 semester.
