Fullerton College Educational Partnerships and Outreach Earns Heartfelt CSUF Recognition
Fullerton College was recently recognized as a valuable partner by California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) during their 25th-year anniversary celebration. At the event, Faculty Coordinator of High School Outreach, Rolando Sanabria, was honored for his contributions to student success and community collaboration.
“Fullerton College’s partnership with CSUF GEAR UP goes back 25 years,” said Sanabria. “It has been a partnership of common goals and most importantly, outstanding relationships. Together, we have assisted thousands of students who have attended Fullerton College.”
A vital component to enrollment, High School Outreach has provided valuable support for the GEAR UP Parent Academy, fostering strong connections with students’ families to enhance their educational journey through workshops and a keynote speaker offered at Fullerton College. Fullerton College also works with CSUF to provide enriching opportunities that drive student success.
“We have effectively established pathways that significantly enhance access to higher education and ensure long-term success for our students and their families. Our collaboration has profoundly impacted thousands of lives, demonstrating the power of working together to create brighter futures in our community.” said Adriana Badillo, director of Center for Educational Partnerships at CSUF. “Through initiatives like the Anaheim Pledge and the Fullerton Educational Partnership, we have showcased the value of intentional partnerships. Our efforts have also strengthened programs such as Fullerton College’s Promise Center, easing student transitions to feeder schools and transfer collaboration to CSUF. We are proud of our partnership and the collaborative approach that drives our success.”
The Promise Program, which offers the first two years of free tuition for first-time college students, has also collaborated with GEAR UP for their 2018 grant. The grant provides intentional support for students who graduated from Magnolia, Savanna and Western High School in 2024, who are now attending Fullerton College as first-time students. The same was done for the 2015 GEAR UP grant supporting students who attended Fullerton College in 2021.
“With gratitude, we celebrate a partnership that creates lasting impact. Together, we’re not just providing access—we’re unlocking new possibilities to pave the way for students to succeed and transform their futures.” said Interim Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs, Valerie Salazar.
Fullerton College’s partnership with CSUF aims to cultivate exciting and uplifting opportunities for first-time college students. Offering holistic support services, these programs meet students where they are by getting involved with their communities, families and more.
