Fullerton College Offers Several Ways to Give this Season

The holidays evoke a spirit of great generosity at Fullerton College, and there are several ways for staff, students and the community to contribute to those in need.

The Veteran’s Resource Center is hosting their annual Military Care Package Drive from now until Nov. 17. The care package drive supports U.S.  military serving abroad. A list of items needed can be found on the VRC website at veterans.fullcoll.edu. In addition, the VRC is looking for volunteers to help prepare the packages for shipping on Nov. 18. To volunteer, contact the VRC at 714-992-7102.

Fullerton College Ethnic Studies, M.E.C.H.A. and Associated Students have teamed up to host the 47th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Thanksgiving Food Drive helps feed more than 100 Fullerton College families each year. . Collection boxes can be found throughout the campus or donations can be delivered to the food bank located in Room 1955. Grocery store gift cards and monetary donations are also appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible. For more information contact Gerald Padilla at gpadilla@fullcoll.edu or Kimberly Marquez at kimberlymarquez777@yahoo.com

EOPS/CARE & CalWORKs will once again host their annual Adopt an Angel Holiday Program. The program relies on support from faculty and staff to adopt “angels,” who are children of FC’s CARE, CalWORKs, and FYSI parents, and to provide the children with gifts this holiday season. An adoption tree will be available beginning Nov. 15 at the EOPS office located in Room 2020. Monetary donations are also being accepted for the Adopt An Angel Holiday Party, Dec. 9, which is where the gifts will be distributed to the children. For more information contact Yolanda Aguirre at 714-992-7255 or Antionese Cotton at 714-732-5376.

Lastly, the Fullerton College Foundation is a great way to help support the education of Fullerton College students this season. The FC Foundation promotes FC and works to enhance the lives of students by raising resources for scholarships, grants, programmatic and institutional support. Donations are accepted year-round, however, on “Giving Tuesday,” which is Nov. 29, the FC Foundation is encouraging staff and the community to help support students by making a direct or online donation. Donations can be made at the foundation’s website fullcollfoundation.org, or by sending a check or money order to the Foundation Office at P.O. Box 431, Fullerton, CA 92836. Staff may also set up automatic payroll deductions to contribute. For more information contact the foundation directly at 714-992-7790.
