Fullerton College Welcomes Men of Color Center Leader, Dr. Ayinde Rochon
Fullerton College is thrilled to welcome its new A2MEND Advisor and Men of Color Center Director, Dr. Ayinde Rochon.
Dr. Rochon is vastly experienced in advocacy, leadership and servitude. Throughout his professional journey, he served as an instructor, researcher and higher education leader committed to advancing success and improving educational outcomes for historically underserved communities.
Before joining Fullerton College, he was Interim Student Services Coordinator at the Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education, where he led student success initiatives, built cross-campus partnerships and developed equity-focused programs that expanded opportunities for nontraditional and historically underserved students. Prior to that, he was a Senior Research Associate at the University of Illinois’ Office of Community College Research and Leadership.
Originally from Evansville, Indiana, he holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in African American and African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in education policy, organization and leadership from the University of Illinois.
Passionate about using photography as a method for amplifying student voices, his dissertation study focused on men of color utilizing photos to document experiences. Dr. Rochon seeks to bring art and postsecondary education together as one. He comes to Fullerton College with pride, joy and a heart of service. Our college looks forward to working with him to inspire our young men of color, support all of our Hornets and continue building a campus where every student feels a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to thrive.
