Historical Artwork on Display
Students and faculty returning to campus after a nice summer off will notice a bit of a change to several rooms in the 200 Building. Art and photographs once used for the Centennial history exhibit are now on display in many rooms throughout the building.
Among the artwork displays, the college’s rich history is told through a student life photo essay featuring custom designed wallpaper in Room 224, wallpaper trim and student drawings in Room 227, and a collage of photos and graphics detailing the college’s architectural history in the Staff Dining Room.
Retired dean of fine arts Bob Jensen spearheaded the projects and worked with graphic designers, custom framers, and photographic experts to design and install the customized work.
“It was critical to me that the important work done by the Centennial researchers, archivists, designers, and writers continue to inform our college community about the legends and legacies of our rich college history,” Jensen said.
The installation projects are funded by a grant from the Wilson W. Phelps Foundation in combination with Centennial funds. They are a continuation of several projects which first began in 2013 during the college’s Centennial kick-off event titled “Legends and Legacies: Fullerton College’s First One Hundred Years” exhibit, featured at the Fullerton Museum Center.
Jensen plans to continue installation projects in the Library and Buildings 500, 700 and 1100. These locations will also feature fine art pieces, photographs, a student journalism exhibit, and framed artwork to honor FC’s veterans.
