Fullerton College sent eight competitors to participate in the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association (PSCFA) Fall Championship on Dec. 2. The tournament, hosted at Mt. San Antonio College, featured more than 40 colleges and universities competing at one of the largest non-national competitions in the nation for the Fall 2018 semester.
Maceo Coleman finished 2nd place in open communication analysis besting competitors from the University of Utah, Biola, Cal Baptist, and Northern Arizona University. Coleman, a second year student, presented his communication analysis of the film Black Panther which he has performed for the Fullerton College campus at convocation and the Umoja Kwanzaa celebration. The competition was elite and this finish was Coleman’s best of the speech season to date.
“I practiced nonstop and poured my heart and soul into this speech,” Coleman said. The Speech and Debate team is excited about the unique abilities of Coleman as a young scholar.
Students interested in joining the team this spring can enroll in Communication Studies 138. The team resumes competition again during winter break Jan. 7- 9 at Cal State Fullerton. The Fullerton College Speech and Debate team is coached by Jeff Samano, Toni Nielson and Jeanette Rodriguez.
