Investiture of Dr. Cynthia Olivo as President of Fullerton College
The Fullerton College community is invited to the Investiture of Dr. Cynthia Olivo as President of Fullerton College on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 3 p.m. on the Quad.
In partnership with the Latino Faculty & Staff Association and Los Amigos de Orange County, the celebration will feature a formal ceremony that begins at 3 p.m. on the Quad followed by a small reception.
Dr. Cynthia Olivo began serving as President of Fullerton College in January 2023. Dr. Olivo has nearly 28 years of higher education experience with most of her years of service as an administrator. Prior to Fullerton College, she spent 15 years serving at Pasadena City College. Her roles include the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Associate Dean of Counseling. She also served as the Associate Director of Admissions and Student Recruitment at California State University, San Bernardino.
Dr. Olivo earned a B.A. in Psychology and Master of Science in Counseling from California State University San Bernardino. She earned a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Urban Leadership from Claremont Graduate University.
The Investiture celebration will also include two events leading up to the ceremony, which incorporate the theme of Equity Elevated. The events are:

In conjunction with FC Umoja, Black Faculty & Staff Collective, and the FC TakeOff Grant for Men of Color, Fullerton College welcomes Dr. Darla Cooper for a presentation on the African-American Transfer Tipping Point. Dr. Darla Cooper is an educational leader and expert in research and evaluation dedicated to using inquiry, data, and evidence to improve the lives of all community college students. She currently serves as the Executive Director for the Research and Planning Group for the California Community Colleges (The RP Group).

In conjunction with FC APIDA, Student Trustee, Associated Students, and the Honors Program, Fullerton College welcomes State Treasurer Fiona Ma for a presentation on Women in Leadership. Fiona Ma is California’s 34th State Treasurer. She was elected on November 6, 2018 with more votes (7,825,587) than any other candidate for treasurer in the state’s history. She is the first woman of color and the first woman Certified Public Accountant (CPA) elected to the position.

The Investiture Ceremony and Reception will be held Friday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. on the Quad. Special guest speakers will include labor leader and community organizer Dolores Huerta and public scholar and Hispanic Serving Institutions advocate Dr. Gina Ann Garcia. Members of the campus community along with personal family, friends, and colleagues are invited to celebrate this memorable occasion. Come and enjoy an afternoon and evening of community celebration and fun.
