On-Campus Study Space Will Be Available March 10
Fullerton College will provide a quiet and socially distanced study space on campus for students starting this month. The study space, which will be located in the Campus Dining Hall in Building 200, will be available by reservation beginning March 10.
The Dining Hall Study Space marks the first in-door support service offered on-campus since the campus closed last March due to COVID-19. It is being offered with significant care given to CDC safety standards and will have limited capacity.
“The decision to provide a quiet study space on campus was developed after numerous students identified having challenging environments at home,” said director of Academic Support Programs Kristine Nikkhoo. “The space will also help students who are taking in-person classes and student–athletes who need a quiet space to study between classes and practice.”
Students will be able to reserve an individual study table for a two-hour block of time Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with only one student allowed per table and seating/chairs spaced at least six feet apart, Nikkhoo said.
The table reservation system will be available online beginning March 8 at asc.fullcoll.edu and on the Fullerton College Covid-19 website. Students will be required to reserve a table in advance; walk-ins will not be allowed at this time. Tables will also have power outlets for students to connect their laptops or tablets, and study areas will be cleaned and sanitized between reservations. Masks must be kept on at all times so no eating or drinking will be allowed in the Dining Hall Study Space.
Fullerton College is following all public health guidelines issued by Orange County. Masks and social distancing are required of students and staff attending classes and/or visiting the campus, this will include the Dining Hall Study Space. Students visiting the campus are required to complete and pass a health screening using the Fullerton College Mobile App and visit the Check-in Center each day they plan to be on campus. The Check-in Center was opened in January at the start of the spring 2021 semester.
