‘Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption’ Selected for One Book, One College
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson, has been selected for the 2017-18 One Book, One College campaign. Just Mercy draws attention to the injustices of the American legal system—primarily, the inequities of race and poverty, and the harsh sentencing of children and the mentally ill.
While chronicling his work to free a wrongly accused man from death row, Stevenson’s book touches on themes of justice, humanity, mercy, hope, racial inequity, slavery, poverty, intellectual disability, mental illness, child abuse, domestic violence, the death penalty and mass incarceration.
Just Mercy is both heartbreaking and inspiring—and well worth reading. Learn more about the book, the author, and the Equal Justice Initiative at the by visiting http://bryanstevenson.com.
One Book, One College is a campus-wide reading program that focuses on a common book to encourage reading, critical thinking and discussion. The goal is to get the college reading and talking about the same book at the same time in classrooms and around campus. Campus activities will be held throughout the year. Please join the conversation by reading the book and engaging in campus activities.
