Sept. 24, 2021 -In collaboration with OC Health Care Agency, Fullerton College and Hope International University (HIU) have partnered to help students and the Fullerton community get vaccinated.
Fullerton College will host COVID-19 vaccinations by walk-in or appointments on Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Quad, and HIU will provide free transportation for HIU students to Fullerton College to receive a first or second dose of the J&J and Pfizer vaccines. Third shots will also be available to immuno-compromised individuals. Second or third does of Moderna will also be available. Fullerton College and HIU are located about two miles from each other.
“This collaboration provides our students a great opportunity to join with our local community and a local private university to make a small but meaningful difference in the safety of our community,” said Fullerton College’s Director of Behavioral Health Dana Timmermans.
“Hope International University continues to strongly encourage our faculty, staff, and students to get vaccinated for COVID-19. We appreciate the opportunity to team up with the OC Health Care Agency and Fullerton College to be able to offer vaccine doses for not only our institutions but for our surrounding community as well,” said R. Mark Comeaux, Vice President of Student Affairs at Hope International University.
Fullerton College will join colleges and universities throughout the state to require vaccinations beginning Nov. 1. The vaccine clinic on Sept. 30 will help Fullerton College students and employees meet the mandate deadline.
“We’re grateful to OC Health Care Agency and the opportunity to partner with HIU to make vaccinations easily accessible to our students, staff and community,” said Interim President Dr. Gilbert Contreras.
As an added incentive, Fullerton College students who get vaccinated on Sept. 30 will receive a $25 grocery gift card. HIU students and anyone else who is vaccinated that day will also be entered into an opportunity drawing for one of three $100 Amazon gift cards provided by Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development. The event will also have Fullerton College giveaways and spirit items. Free giveaways and event support have also been provided by Orange County Fourth District Supervisor Doug Chaffee’s office.
Fullerton College is using the hashtag #hiveimmunity on social media to help get the word out.
