President’s Board Report Update 3.10.26

Women’s History Month at Fullerton College 
This month, Fullerton College is celebrating Women’s History Month! Throughout the month, our campus has honored the identities and contributions of women throughout history with our events and festivities, including an educational display at the library, the Mujeres Achieving Success (MAS) Conference and more. 

Updated ICE Protocols 
Fullerton College recently updated its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protocols. If any ICE activity is reported on campus, employees and students should contact Campus Safety immediately. Our full updated protocols are available on our SharePoint, which employees can access with their campus credentials. 

Fullerton College Students Named Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Semifinalists 
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship has named five Fullerton College students as semifinalists: 

  • Caleb Chang 
  • Kenny Monchez 
  • Alan S. 
  • Alyssa Sandoval 
  • Daniel Son 

The Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is a highly competitive scholarship for the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at four-year institutions. Cooke Scholars have access to financial support for two to three years, ongoing advising and more. Our students also join a robust list of 485 to become semifinalists out of 1,300 applicants across the country. 

Hornet Basketball Teams are Headed to Finals 
The men’s and women’s basketball teams recently headed to finals! Our men’s team secured a 28-1 victory and will advance to the SoCal Regional Finals, while our women’s team is also headed to regional finals after a dynamic match against Mt. San Jacinto College. Congratulations to our Hornets and Coach Perry Webster for securing 263 wins in the history of Fullerton College! 

Artist in Residence, Phung Huynh, Inspires Hornet Community 
The art department recently invited our 2026 Artist-in-Residence, Phung Huynh, and displayed her work for students to witness. We also invited Cambodian dancers to bless the gallery with a special performance that conveyed Huynh’s themes of returning ancestry and culture. We’d like to thank the art department for this exciting effort to teach our students the power of art, culture and identity.  

Fullerton College Celebrates STARS Bronze Award 
Fullerton College recently earned the Bronze Award for its 2025 Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) submission. The fourth community college in California to secure this accolade, the Bronze Award speaks to the sustainability efforts Fullerton College has pioneered for the North Orange County Community College District. 

Fullerton College’s key achievements met STARS’ highest categories of coordination and planning, equity and energy and climate. Since 2022, the college has launched a comprehensive sustainability plan, impactful Earth Week programming and a robust shared governance system that invites student participation and input, as well as a Sustainability Committee led by faculty and staff peers.   

Fullerton College thanks NOCCCD Director of Sustainability Tyler Deacy and Professor of Earth Sciences, Dr. Roman de Jesus for their efforts to secure this exciting award.  

Black/African American High School Conference Inspires Aspiring Hornets 
Our High School Outreach team recently hosted its inaugural Black/African American High School Conference. A successful event, the conference invited high school students for an inspiring experience as they explored paths toward higher education and lifelong success.  

Some of the conference’s themes included: 

  • Pathways to Higher Education 
  • Identity and Empowerment 
  • Career Exploration and Readiness 
  • High Education Support Systems
