35 students joined Oceanographer-Marine Biologist Professor Sean Chamberlin on an expedition with Dana Wharf Sportfishing to watch whales off the California coast. This is the time of year when blue whales, the largest animal to ever live on Earth, and humpback whales, known for their dramatic breaches, cavort off of the coast. During the expedition, students were able to see a rare site; a humpback whale up close and personal.
The trip was funded by a student equity grant to support underrepresented science students, inspire their interest in science, and motivate them to complete a degree in science.
