Students Honored For Community Service

Students in the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS) were recently honored for their community service with the Fullerton School District.

AGS is dedicated to providing members community service opportunities in and outside of campus, and has been involved with Commonwealth Elementary School for two years and has participated in activities such as Saturday School and the Commonwealth Haunted Library during the school’s Fall Festival.

During Saturday Schools, AGS members interact with children who attend, teaching them various arts and crafts that are themed to specific holidays during the month. Crafts have included lanterns for Chinese New Year, pumpkins for Halloween, and Dr. Seuss hats for the author’s birthday. Members also help the kids with school work throughout the day as well as enjoy recess with them.

On Feb. 21, AGS was honored with a service award from the Fullerton School District for all their work and dedication with Commonwealth over the past two years. The board members of AGS received the award in person and expressed their gratitude to both Commonwealth and to the Fullerton School District Board. This award is shared with all the members and our advisor, Dr. Nick Arman, for their support and dedication of this fun monthly event.
