Symphonic Winds Features Standard Band Literature, 3/31
The music department at Fullerton College will be presenting Symphonic Winds on Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre.
The Symphonic Winds ensemble is the major performing group for wind, brass and percussion music majors led by Dr. David Lopez, music professor at Fullerton College. This ensemble performs standard band literature as well as commissioning new works from both students and established composers. Standard band literature are pieces of high-quality that every instrumental musician is expected to have performed in their college years.
For the March 31 performance, the program will include three marches, two marches will demonstrate other ways that a march can be used in a concert setting. The program will conclude with a traditional John Philip Sousa March.
The program also includes a performance of Culloden by Julie Giroux that is a charming three-movement symphony for band based upon Scottish folk songs.
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office. The general admission price is $10, $5 for children ten and younger, and $7 for students with ID or seniors 55 and older.
COVID-19 Safety: All visitors must wear a face covering while indoors and show either proof of vaccination or proof of negative test within 72 hours. Additionally, students, faculty and staff must follow the NOCCCD vaccine mandate.
Location: The Campus Theatre is located next to FC’s Staff Parking Lot C West, off North Lemon St, in Building 1300. The lobby and entrance are located on the south side of Building 1300 through a series of exterior glass doors.
