Tam Contreras Named Director of Dual Enrollment

Fullerton College is excited to welcome its new Director of Dual Enrollment, Tam Contreras. Contreras will lead the college’s new Office of Dual Enrollment, support the divisions and departments and serve as liaison between Fullerton College and K-12 institutions.

Contreras holds 10 years of experience in higher education, having started as a program coordinator for GEAR UP, a federal grant program designed to support students from low-income communities by helping them access resources and succeed in college. Her passion for dual enrollment began when she served as a classified staff member who oversaw and grew the dual enrollment program at Rio Hondo College. Her leadership and commitment led to a series of inspiring promotions. She served in leadership roles such as interim grant manager for outreach and dual enrollment, as well as director of student success and partnerships, where she led Rio Hondo College’s Student Success Center, dual enrollment, outreach and Promise programs.

For Contreras, dual enrollment programs hold a special place in her heart. A first generation, Vietnam War refugee, Contreras was a former dual enrollment student that graduated high school with 35 college credits. Her mission to give back to the dual enrollment community has been a recurring theme in her career and she looks forward to growing educational programs for our Fullerton College community.

Contreras holds a master’s degree in higher education from California State University, Fullerton and a master’s in educational counseling from University of La Verne.

Fullerton Colleges looks forward to Contreras making an impact for our students.
