The Season of Giving is Here and Fullerton College Offers Many Ways to Give

As we enter into the season of giving, many departments and programs on campus are collecting items, donations, and hosting drives to support students and members of our community. Here’s a list of how you can help:

Veterans Resource Center Care Drive – The Veterans Resource Center is calling on the Fullerton College campus and community to donate items for troops deployed overseas. Personal items, non-perishable foods, entertainment, clothing, and miscellaneous items may be dropped off at the VRC in Building 500, Room 518 through November 20. See the list of items needed.

Fall Harvest Food Drive – The Fullerton College Ethnic Studies Department and MEChA have placed empty boxes around campus for the annual Fall Harvest Food Drive. Boxes will be available until Nov. 22 for donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items. Another option is to go directly to the FC Food Bank in Room 1955 and let them know that your donation is for the Ethnic Studies/MEChA Food Drive. Grocery store gift cards and monetary donations can be made at the Social Sciences Division Office in Room 1415. Items collected will be used to support Fullerton College families at Thanksgiving and the Fullerton College Food Bank. Read more about the food drive here.

Adopt an Angel Holiday Program – The planning has begun for the annual Fullerton College EOPS/CARE & CalWORKs & FYSI “Adopt an Angel” holiday event. Beginning Nov. 4 the CARE/FYSI Office in Room 2002 will have adoption forms and ornaments with children to adopt this holiday season. Monetary donations will also be accepted to help with the Adopt and Angel Holiday Party on Dec. 6. The event supports parents and children in the program. For more information contact Dolores Cornejo at 714-732-5382.

Sociology Club Sock Drive – The Sociology Club is collecting new socks for men and women to donate to Pathways of Hope to distribute to local in-need populations. The collection runs Nov. 5 to Nov. 26. Donations can be dropped off in Building 1400, office suite 1423 or you may send packages to Angie Andrus. For more information email aandrus@fullcoll.edu or sociologyclub@fullcoll.edu

Alpha Gamma Sigma Holiday Shoe Drive – AGS is collecting new and slightly used shoes to help those in need. Donations can be dropped off at holiday gift wrapped boxes found on campus through Nov. 26. The boxes are marked AGS Holiday Shoe Drive and can be found near most department and division offices. All collections will be sent to Fund2Orgs, an organization dedicated to helping student organizations raise funds through shoe drives. The shoes are sent to countries where they are repurposed to help small business owners in developing countries earn a living.
