Two New Ethnic Studies Faculty Join Fullerton College
Fullerton College is pleased to welcome two new full-time faculty this fall. Dr. Rosie Kar and Dr. Anita Juárez will join the Ethnic Studies Department. Dr. Kar has been an adjunct lecturer at Fullerton College since fall 2019 and was named the 2023 Fullerton College Faculty of the Year. Dr. Juárez served as visiting full-time faculty during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Rosie Kar
Ethnic Studies
Rosie Kar is a second generation South Asian American, of Sindhi and Bengali ancestry. Born and raised in Southern California, she is the child of immigrants and grandchild of political refugees, via the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan. She holds a bachelors’ degree in literatures of the world from UC San Diego, a master’s degree in comparative literature from UC Santa Barbara, and a doctorate degree in comparative literature, with doctoral emphases in Feminist Studies and Asian American Studies from UC Santa Barbara. From 2012-2021, she was an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, the Comparative World Literature Program, the Department of English, and the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at California State University, Long Beach. She was an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at UC Santa Cruz. She has been adjunct lecturer in the Department of Ethnic Studies at Fullerton College since Fall 2019.
Anita Juárez
Ethnic Studies
Anita Juárez holds a bachelor’s degree in Chicana/o studies and sociology from UC Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree and doctorate in education, culture, and society from the University of Utah. For over 15 years, Juárez has worked with students in K-12 schools, higher education, and communities beyond the classroom. She is a firm believer in the importance of cultivating spaces and opportunities to critically examine society and transform the world. Her research mainly focuses on understanding the intersections between the U.S. K-12 schooling system, settler colonialism, and racial capitalism. Prior to joining Fullerton College as a 1-year full-time temporary faculty in Fall 2022, she taught courses in Chicanx and Latinx studies, and Latin American studies at different CSU campuses. Juárez is excited to rejoin the Fullerton College community and continue teaching for the Ethnic Studies department.
