Featuring Tracey Cooper-Harris as guest speaker. Tracey Cooper-Harris served in the U.S. Army for 12 years as an Animal Care Sergeant. She became active in the Los Angeles veterans’ and LGBTQ+ communities, shortly after her discharge from the military. Her passion for both communities and recognition of inequitable benefits for same sex spouses of disabled veterans led her to file a federal lawsuit with the U.S. District Court of Los Angeles in 2012. With the help of Southern Poverty Law Center, Cooper-Harris vs United States was one of the first cases that established recognition of same sex spouses for Veterans Administration benefits when the court ruled in their favor.
All events are hosted by the Veterans Resource Center. For more information, visit the Veterans Resource Center website.
