Welcome Elizabeth Martínez as Interim Vice President of Student Services

Fullerton College is proud to announce Elizabeth Martínez as Interim Vice President of Student Services.

Martínez brings a wealth of experience in putting students first with more than 20 years in higher education. Most recently, she served as the inaugural executive director of COLEGAS, an organization of Latinx professionals who work to dismantle inequitable systems and create lasting change within the California community college system.

Martínez’s career is highlighted by several leadership positions at Compton College, last serving as vice president of student services. In this role, she implemented several high-profile programs and initiatives including guided pathways, student equity and achievement, basic needs and dual enrollment. Notably, she helped lead the work to restore the accreditation status for Compton College.

Prior to her role as vice president, she gained exceptional experience as dean of student services, director of enrollment services, outreach and school relations, director of extended opportunity programs and services/CARE programs and as a transfer and career center coordinator. Martínez has excellent academic qualifications with a master’s degree in education, specializing in multicultural counseling from San Diego State University, a bachelor’s degree in sociology and doctoral coursework from UCLA.

Martínez is scheduled to begin her new role on Aug. 1.
