Welcome New Dean of Physical Education Division, Dr. Beth Kelley
Dr. Beth Kelley has been named new Dean of the Physical Education Division at Fullerton College.
Dr. Kelley joins the Fullerton College familia after serving at Grossmont College for eighteen years. She was a professor in the Exercise Science, Nutrition and Health department, as well as department chair, academic senate officer, basic skills coordinator, Peer Online Course Review (POCR) trainer, CTE coordinator and SLO coordinator.
An avid sports fan, Dr. Kelley has worked in kinesiology and athletic departments throughout her entire career. With her wealth of experience in the community college space, she previously held full-time and adjunct teaching positions at Santa Rosa Junior College, Solano Community College and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. A northern California native, she also taught in the kinesiology department at San Francisco State University and served as director of its faculty and staff wellness program.
Dr. Kelley proudly implemented her enthusiasm, innovative approach and commitment to kinesiology as a consultant for local, state and regional physical activity initiatives. She was a governor-appointed special consultant for the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. She has also held the honor of being a contributing author for popular kinesiology textbooks, and is a requested presenter on a wide range of topics. An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)-certified exercise physiologist, she also owned a successful fitness and wellness promotion business.
A proud product of community college education, Dr. Kelley earned her associate’s degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training. She continued her educational pursuits at University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she completed a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology. Later in her career, she studied under Drs. J. Luke Wood and Frank Harris, earning a doctorate from San Diego State University in educational leadership, community college and postsecondary leadership concentration. Her research interests include effective department chairs, deans, teaching and learning, as well as topics related to exercise, athletics and health.
Fullerton College is excited to welcome Dr. Kelley and have her join its team of incredible deans. She will be instrumental in uplifting our students into success, bolster effective collaboration across campus and carry on the Fullerton College legacy.
