2021 Students of Distinction Announced

Twenty students, who have distinguished themselves and are representative of the top scholars at Fullerton College were announced on Friday, May 7. The Office of Student Life and Leadership notified students by phone and email. Recipients were selected through a nomination process involving faculty, staff, and fellow students. Raymond Robles and Dorian Weldon-Obando are the 2021 Distinguished Students of the Year.

The awards are divided into four achievement categories: Academic, Competitive, Personal and Service. The Competitive category was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic as many Fullerton College’s competitive teams were not able to compete in-person during the 2020-2021 year. As a result, more students were selected for the Academic category. The recipients of the 2021 Students of Distinction Award are:

“The Students of Distinction scholarship is a very rigorous process and receives a huge amount of applications every year,” said Director of Student Life and Leadership Naomi Abesamis. “Regrettably due to the pandemic, Fullerton College will not be hosting a public scholarship recognition ceremony on campus this year.”

Each recipient will receive a special care package delivery sent to their home address, along with a scholarship check sponsored by Associated Students, Dr. Janet and Henry Emoto, Schlinger Students of Distinction, Fullerton College Faculty Wives, District Management Association (DMA), various donors from Fullerton College, and the Friends of the Fullerton College Foundation.
