Pardon Our Dust: Construction Impacts the Quad
Students, faculty and staff returning to campus for Spring 2023 will see several construction projects still in progress on the main campus. Several projects, including areas of the quad, cement walkways near the north entrance of Building 100, ramps near Building 200, and ongoing improvements to Sherbeck Field were delayed during the winter break due to the unforeseen circumstances and the historic rain levels in California.
The fenced areas in and around the quad are part of the first phase of a two-phase site access improvement project that was scheduled to be completed over the winter break. Once completed, the second phase will begin during the summer. Additionally, the cement projects near the north entrances of Building 100 between the Administration and Financial Aid offices will continue to be worked on through the first few weeks of the spring semester. Individuals who require access to Financial Aid and the Promise Program’s new location in Room 119 can use the south entrance of the building near Chapman Ave. or the hallway access near the Office of Campus Communications – Room 113.
The purpose of the construction work in the quad is to modify slopes in accordance with current ADA requirements. The work addresses minor variances between code requirements and current conditions. To the naked eye, the slope correction will appear minimal but the corrections are important to creating more accessible pathways and smooth access. Handrails around the 200 Building will also be improved.
Fullerton College apologizes for the inconvenience of the project delays and expects to have these projects completed in February. Where access to a building is restricted, directional signage has been placed to redirect foot traffic to the accessible entrances.
